Party time
I've been overwhelmed at work and haven't had time to post about last weekends banquet, but here goes: we had a blast!
I finished Jo's viking pants on the train up, and I' really mean finished! I rarely completely finish a garment before it's worn for the first time, there's usually a hem or buttons missing or some kind of shortcut, but these are 100% done and I love them! Jo dubbed them his 'Hammer-pants', as they are quite MC Hammer, but I could tell that out of all the gorgeous outfits I've made him, this was the one he's been most happy waering. And he really looked great too - I love the vibrant colors of viking garb, the deep blue kaftan and the red pants really stood out. Unfortunatly (even though Jo brought his fancy camera) we only ended up taking two pictures as we were changing out of our banquet-wear, and he managed to leave the kaftan at the party, cough cough.
Which mean he can't wear it to the Tolkien Society Fallfeast this weekend, which in turn means you'll have to wait for pictures.
And lo and behold - I wore the cranach! (well not so much to behold as we're lacking pics, but still...)
I wasn't completely finished cranaching it, it only had two golden guards on the skirt instead of three, and I want to put golden bands on the neckline, but at 11 PM I knew that if I was going to do the third guard I had to cut up the dress and risk not sewing it back up, so I felt it was better to leave it as was since it was wearable. And I still got compliments so I'm cutting myself some slack.
I've been working some on the corsets for my corsetry class this week, so no finishing the cranach for this weekend I guess, I think I might tone down the Mrs Lovett for that. (Which, I just realised I haven't posted pictures of either. I suck.)
Alright, I promise to try to get pictures of everything soon!
